Walgreens Deals 8/30, 8/31, 9/1

I visited my local Walgreens everyday for the past 3 days... On Saturday, it was to make good use of the $10/$40 coupon with which I purchased the monthly Free-After-Rebate stuff. With all of my coupons, I made a profit of $12 after rebate!

I went back Sunday to collect on their weekly sale of BOGO CoverGirl Foundation and In-ad coupon for Nursery Water. I combined the BOGO CoverGirl Sale with my BOGO coupons from the August P&G insert (exp. 8/31!) to get 4 items FREE! The nursery water was on sale 2 for $2 and I had a 55¢/2 coupon (IP here) to get them both for $1.50 (about 51% off!). I went back today to get more water - 8 gallons total.

$5 Olay Regenerist Coupon

Have you "discovered" Olay regenerist yet? It is by far, single-handedly the BEST skin product I have ever used. I learned about it several years ago when I went to a dermatologist before my wedding. My skin isn't horrible, but ladies you know how we want to look our absolute BEST on our wedding day! She suggested that I try Olay regenerist and then she said, "I'd give you some free samples, but I take them all home and use them myself." That was the most convincing referral I'd ever heard, so I bought some and have been using it ever since (in between pregnancies - it's not suggested for pregnant women).

Olay is offering a $5 coupon for their Regenerist products at their website here. And just in time! I need to restock my daily serum and my daily thermal mini-peel!

Cheap Baby Wipes at Walgreens

I found boxes of Walgreens Comfort-Smooth wipes (400 ct) on clearance at my Walgreens for $5.24. It includes 5 - 80 ct refills - that's $1 per pack!

I purchased them last night along with some Tide detergent, school supplies, Preparation-H ($$-maker), Lysol Neutra-air starter kit, and more with the $5/$20 coupon. I paid a total of $7.72 (after spending the balance of my Gift Card)!

Slowing Down for a minute

School is back in session here in Atlanta. As a result, I am finding that my time (and energy) are waning - thanks to the 150 students I teach and my own two beautiful (but demanding) children and my dear husband. (Hi honey!)

That being the case, I've slowed down on my shopping trips and hence my blogging. However, I do not intend to stop altogether. I believe in this blog and in helping my readers find a good (and often unadvertised) deal and so will continue this blog as best I can.

To my readers, stay tuned. I will continue bringing the deals when I can. In between blogs, be sure to visit my favorite blogs on the list on the right for ongoing deals. Many of the blog writers are Stay-At-Home-Moms who are able to blog several times a day! (Lord, help me not to be ENVIOUS! LOL!)

Buy AXE, Get a free movie!

I got a tip from hotcouponworld that if you buy 4 AXE body washes (trial size works!), you will get a coupon for 2 free movie tickets when you checkout. When I tried it out, I got a coupon for 1 free AXE detailer (which looks like a glorified MAN-loofah) and 1 free movie ticket.

I wish I would've gotten 2 tickets, but 1 ticket is great considering I only spent a fraction of the cost of a movie ticket AND I got my husband a nice treat!
Give it a try and then leave me a comment to let me know if it worked for you!
***UPDATE***
When I went to the website to redeem my free "ticket" it actually turned out to be TWO!! WooHoo!!
Sources say that this deal is good until Aug. 31st.
***UPDATE #2***
Sources say that they "fixed" this deal to NOT work with the trial sizes :-(
You have to purchase regular sizes to get the movie tix. For more info, check out the Walgreens - Register Rewards forum at hotcouponworld.com.

Theragran-M Vitamins for $1 @ Walgreens

Theragran-M vitamins are B1G1 this week at Walgreens. If you have the $50 Prescription Savings Booklet (which you can request at the pharmacy if they are not sitting out), there is a $4 coupon for the vitamins.

Get the vitamins that are $9.99 each. When the cashier scans the coupon, it will take $4 off of EACH pack of vitamins. (That's $8!) Then the 2nd pack of vitamins will come off altogether leaving you with a balance of $2 and some change.

That's $1 for each pack!

CVS Trip 7/31/08 - How does it happen????

I have to be honest... I'm not quite sure how it works out, but I assure you that I keep getting FREE STUFF at CVS! Here's what I got during my latest trip:

I had ALOT of trouble cashing in on the Lifesaver deal as the manager of my local CVS store did not want to take my BOGO coupons!! She kept telling me "Well, you can't have both of them for free - it doesn't work like that!" I came home and called the corporate office (1-800-SHOP-CVS) and spoke with an Extra Care representative about my experience. The rep assured me that all I should've had to pay was tax!! So, I returned to the store - THANKFULLY the manager I spoke with the first time was gone. The supervisor on duty was much more accomodating and I was able to get 10 bags of free Lifesavers and $5 ECBs! WooHoo!

Anyhow, as I was saying... Somehow everything you see in the picture was free - except for the vitamins. I did have to pay $30 for my prenatal vitamins. But that was the only OOP expense I had. I paid for everything else with coupons and previously earned ECBs and when I was done, I had earned $27 in new ECBs to replace the ones I paid with!

Heres what I got:
10 - Lifesavers
4 - Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
1 - Revlon Lip Blush
4 - Johnson & Johnson Baby wash/lotion
1 - Neosporin
1 - Stuart Prenatal Vitamins 100 ct.

Coupons:
5 - BOGO Lifesavers bag
2 - $2/2 Johnson's baby wash or lotion (printable - The Coupon Loop)
1 - $2/1 Revlon products (7/27 newspaper insert)
1 - $1/1 Neosporin (printable - The Coupon Loop)
1 - $5/1 Stuart vitamins (requested from their website)

Walgreen's Trip 7/31/08 - Profit of $10.68!

I "bought" all this stuff at Walgreen's in 2 transactions and made a profit of $10.68!

CVS Deals - $54 of stuff for 55¢ Out of Pocket!

I'm getting better at the CVS game... I bought all the stuff you see in the picture in 4 transactions for a total of 55¢ out-of-pocket (OOP) using coupons and previously earned Extra Care Bucks (ECB).

I had $21 ECB saved up and now I have $12, but am working on another $5 which I should have by week's end. ($5 ECB when you buy $15 of CVS brand baby care items.) So by the time the week is over, I'll have $17 ECB. Not too bad, although I lost $4.

Money Saving Mom is an excellent resource for learning how to "CVS". Check out her link in my blog list to the right.

Also, see Economic Endeavors for detailed instructions on how to plan your transactions to get the most for your money.

Here's how it breaks down:

Transaction 1-
2 Revlon hair accessories ($4.99 & $5.99)
2 American Greetings cards ($3.99 & 3.29)
1 CVS Hand sanitizer ($1.19)
1 CVS Baby Wipes ($2)

COUPONS-
$3/$15
$2 CVS Skin CareB1G1 American Greetings

$11.99 ECBs
Total: 50¢ - Earned $5 ECBs for Revlon accessories
======================

Transaction 2-
Clean & Clear Soft Moisturizer ($7.99)
Clean & Clear Soft Facial Cleanser ($5.99)
CVS Baby Wipes ($2)

COUPONS-
$3/$15
$2 CVS Skin Care
$3/two Clean & Clear Soft products
$7.98 ECBs
Total: 21¢
=======================

Transaction 3-

$2/1 Revlon from 7/20 SS
BOGO Trident Xtra
$2 CVS Skin Care
Total: 70¢ - Earned $1 ECBs for Trident Gum
======================

RETURNED the Clean & Clear from Transaction 2 because I only spent $14 and did not get my ECBs. So,
Transaction 4-
2 Clean & Clear Soft Moisturizers ($7.99 each)

COUPON- $3/2 Clean & Clear Soft products

**Used return money card to pay and still had a balance of 86¢!**This would've been better if I had 1 more $3/$15 and if I had thought to grab another box of CVS wipes!

Earned $5 ECBs for Clean & Clear promo
=====================

Still working on the $5 ECBs from the $15 CVS Brand Baby products. So far, I've "bought" 4 boxes of wipes for free. I just need 4 more and I will get the $5 ECBs!!

Walgreens Deal - FREE DIAPERS!

Woo Hoo!! I hit the jackpot! With two little ones in diapers (a 2-yr old boy who isn't thinking about the potty and a 4-month old) I can use all the help I can get with training pants and diapers.

Thankfully, Money Saving Mom posted this awesome deal on her website. I was able to obtain the Prescription Savings Booklet, and it was all uphill from there!

I paid $5.19 for 3 packs of training pants and received a $5 register rewards (RR) coupon! (Net total of 19¢ !!!!) I used the $5 coupon to take advantage of the awesome school supply deals Walgreens has this week. Take a look!

**NOTE: You cannot use the $5 RR to purchase more diapers and expect to get another $5 RR. So, use your $5 for something else. You can repeat the deal and get another $5 to use on other stuff!

Coupon Woes @ Publix

At my 5th visit to Publix yesterday (hey, I had to use the $5/35 as many times as I could!) I was going to purchase some Huggies Pull-Ups and Kashi Vive cereal among some other things and use my $2 off Pull-Ups and $2 off Kashi coupons.

Much to my surprise and dismay, when I got to the register, the clerk had to ask the manager if he could accept my $2 coupons! According to the manager on duty, they had received an e-mail from corporate stating that due to recent fraudulant internet coupons, they were no longer accepting internet coupons over $1. I expressed my displeasure and asked if there was a way I could contact the corporate office. The clerk removed the two items from my order and then handed me the phone number for the Publix corporate office which he received from the manager.

Since it was evening, the office was closed. So, I called first thing this morning. The man I spoke with was so kind and apologetic. I explained that the coupons I was using were indeed legitimate and I felt that the "new" policy was not fair. I also offered a suggestion regarding the rash of fraudulant coupons. (They could request that customers bring in the whole sheet of paper instead of clipping the coupons they print from their computers.) The kind man heard me out, said he'd update the store regarding the official Publix coupon policy, took my contact information and informed me that I should receive a call from the store's senior manager.

When I spoke with the manager at the store, he also extended an apology and assured me that the store policy does allow the use of my $2 coupons. In fact, they had an employee meeting to re-educate the staff regarding the coupon policy.

I feel that the entire situation was handled very professionally and Publix gets a thumbs up from me for their continued outstanding customer service!

Publix Rocks!

62% Off This Week!

Today I did my big weekly shop at Kroger and CLEANED UP! I normally go to Publix since it is just a mile or so from my house, but I had a Kroger coupon for 15% off the total order that I got from the 2008 Entertainment book. (Publix would not honor it, so I HAD to go to Kroger.)

Before discounts and coupons, the register said $151 - after discounts and coupons, my balance was $58!

I've made a conscious decision to always pickup something to share with others. That's why you see so many multiples in the picture (3 jars of mayo, 4 packs of hotdogs, etc.) That's how our "Cut Out Hunger" campaign was born. Click HERE to see how you can help!

My Favorite Deals Today:
Montgomery Inn BBQ Sauce - FREE! - On sale for $1 and they had $1 off coupons right there on the shelf!

Lever 2000 - $0.24 - On sale for $0.99 and I used the $0.75 off coupon from 5/18 RedPlum insert

BeechNut Baby Food - $0.30 - the Everyday Low Price (EDLP) is $0.43 and I used several $1 off/8 coupons I got from the BeechNut shelf at Publix last week!

Hebrew National Beef Franks - $1.75 - BOGO and I used the $0.75 off coupons from 5/11 and 6/29 Smartsource inserts

Tomorrow is Wednesday, so I will preview the new Publix ad to see if there will be anything that I absolutely need (or is FREE).

Don't forget to leave your comments about how you're saving at the store!

My Thursday Thrill

Guess how much I paid for all the stuff you see... According to my receipt, this is $128 worth of groceries, but I spent $52!!

Did you know that some Publix stores change their prices on Wednesdays and some change their prices on Thursdays? To find out which ones change when, see the fine print on the front page of your weekly Publix ad.

On Wednesdays, I go to http://www.publix.com/ and choose a store whose prices change on Wednesday so I can see the circular a day in advance. I shop for the week based on what's on sale that week and what I have a coupon for (that's where http://www.couponmom.com/ comes in). See my receipt --->

THE "SECRET"

So just how did I buy $150 worth of groceries for $60 last week? Here's the secret...

First of all, you must know that the coupon by itself is not what cuts your bill in half… What gets you the best savings is:

1) Doing some preparatory research
2) Obtaining the coupons
3) Using the coupons at the right TIME
4) Using the coupons at the right PLACE
5) Creating a BUDGET for your weekly shopping trips

RESEARCH
First, you need to know what’s on sale at your neighborhood stores.

The main website you should know about and register with is http://www.couponmom.com/. Stephanie Nelson – the coupon mom – has made available free-of-charge her e-book: “Advanced Grocery Saving Strategies: Cut Your Grocery Bill In Half” which I strongly suggest you read if you want this to work for you. Her website cross references the weekly specials at major supermarkets (as well as WalMart, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid) against a database of available coupons from the Sunday paper.

Another powerful website to use in conjunction with this is http://www.mygrocerydeals.com/. This website compares all weekly ads (you pick the stores) with each other so you can see who has the lowest price for any particular item.

COUPONS
You will find the majority of all available coupons in the Sunday paper. That being said, you should either subscribe or commit to purchasing one (or more) when they are available. SAVE THE COUPON INSERTS!!! Do not throw them away!! The coupon mom will tell you which coupon circular to use and when.

Other sources of coupons are the Internet (http://www.coupons.com/, http://www.smartsource.com/, manufacturer websites), in-store displays, snail mail, and in-package coupons. Know your coupons so that when you research the weekly ads, you’ll recognize items for which you have a coupon. (Coupon Mom references the coupons from the newspaper only.)

If you notice that there is a particular coupon that is of interest to you in the newspaper, BUY MORE NEWSPAPERS! More newspapers = more coupons!

RIGHT TIME
Stock up on stuff only when it is on sale AND you have coupons. Don’t use your coupons just because you have them. Be patient and wait for that sale!

RIGHT PLACE
Double-check http://www.mygrocerydeals.com/ to make sure you’re shopping at the store with the lowest priced items. Or you can split up the shopping list and visit different stores if the price difference is big enough. Also, know your store's double-coupon policy, price matching policy, and competitor's coupons policies.

BUDGET
My Mantra: “Just because it’s on sale, doesn’t mean you have to buy it!” (Easier said than done – I’m still working on this one. )

You will notice an immediate difference in your wallet!!

Post your comments and let me know how much you’re saving. Take a look at the bottom of my last Publix receipt. I spent $16, but I SAVED $34!! That means I purchased $50 worth of stuff for $16!

Here's How You Can Help

By donating your old/used coupon circulars from the Sunday paper, you can help New Bethesda Christian Ministries to build our food pantry to feed the hungry at a fraction of the cost. Send us an e-mail and we will make arrangements.

(If you live in the Metro Atlanta area and want to establish a Coupon Trading Circle, e-mail me. We can help each other cut our own grocery bills in half!)

If you do not have coupons but would still like to help the ministry via monetary contribution, click the green link on the right for "The Revolution Money Exchange". It is a relatively new company that is competing with PayPal and for now they are not charging (unlike PayPal) to send or receive funds. Anyone who sells stuff on ebay should consider signing up so you can avoid the charge for getting paid!

Soon to come: My secret to saving BIG at the grocery store...

Welcome to "All For Goodness Sake"

Thank you for visiting my new blog. I am so excited to be able to share with you and to create a community where we can share with each other. This blog is dedicated to helping others. If you are a helper, we need your input - if you're one of the "others", let us know so we can help out!

I have recently "discovered" the joy of "couponing" - that is, seeking out coupons and using them at just the right time and at just the right store so that I get a REALLY good deal. It's an awesome feeling to purchase $150 worth of groceries for only $60. Sound too good to be true? That's exactly what I did last week at Publix.

If you're interested in learning how I did it, stick around. Check back here often as I will be posting information about really good sales, coupons and freebies at our neighborhood stores.

More rewarding than the thrill of couponing is the thrill of being able to use our coupons to provide food for the hungry for very little money! Stay tuned for how you can help us "Cut Out Hunger" in our community.
